Rafferty's Corner

Well, its been a long fvcking winter…they days of OD happy hours, “beach loads,” and hearing Flan yell at strangers is barely a distant memory.  Luckily for us though, that is all about to change as another summer is upon us and the SOGO crew has been reunited and ready to pillage Avalon for, what might be, our greatest and last summer at the beach.  It was touch and go there for a while in regards to getting a house…in fact, we just booked our house yesterday, less then 2 weeks till D-day.  The reason for the delay are many…for starters, we wanted a new house…while our old house served us well, it was a major piece of cow shit…really, it didn’t have one redeeming quality besides the fact that there was plenty of parking.  Second, there was a bunch of people on the fence about doing it again….i for one, was 100% against it this summer.  I wasn’t against the concept of having the house again, I just couldn’t, in good conscience, commit more then a few weekends to it all summer.  Of course, I am a sucker for peer pressure, so when Woolston called last week, and told me that most of the original SOGO Crew was back for one last hurrah, I cracked under the pressure and became the 10th and final member of Sogo 2006. 

 

Our headquarters this season is on 21st street, about a block from the bridge.  It’s a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house overlooking the bay that Woolston and Call managed to steal for $16K for the whole summer(keep in mine, it was on the market for $23K)…that, my friends, is what you call, a good deal.  Most of the original crew is back, except for Stewy, whose whereabouts are still unknown….if anyone has any information regarding him, please contact us immediately.  Me, Flan, Mike, Call, Woolston, Thew, Max, Maags, and two others that I don’t know, make up the members of this years crew.  Its going to be sick!!!!

 

Top 5 things I look forward to this summer:

5) The new house- it will be pretty effing sweet to have a party and not have to worry about the a-holes across the street calling the cops on us…oh yeah, it will also be nice having beds that don’t suck and showers that actually work too.

 

4) The OD happy hour- it has been said on this site many times before, but nothing is more entertaining then the two hours we spend in Sea Isle every weekend…in such a short period of time, we leave our mark on that place in dramatic fashion.

 

3) The return to the Tour De Shore…we were weak last year and only had a hand full participate and we got dressed in stupid Toga’s….this year, I am promising that we will return to our old form with a cool theme and better participation

 

2) Flan returning to Flanimal form(without the food throwing, of course)- He is about to go down a road none of us has been and this is his last summer to enjoy his freedom…I expect to be bailing him out of jail at least twice this summer.  I’m sure he won’t be welcomed in the OD or Jacks anymore by July, and I fully anticipate a whole new repertoire of insults for the random passersby.

 

1) I really have felt empty this winter…and I finally just realized why…I miss the www.beachhouse2002.com people.  They were just so cool and entertaining….i just haven’t felt the same without hearing their weekly updates on traffic and food that they ate every weekend.  Only 2 more weeks till I get fulfilled again!!!
