Special guest reviewer Dave discusses the similarities of "Top Gun" and "Days of Thunder"

So I got caught up watching Days of Thunder last night. Let me start off by saying this is a great movie, one to rival the other 80's greats. However, I couldn't help but noticing this is the exact same movie as Top Gun. So here's my 10 top things that make Top Gun and Days of Thunder the same movie:

1. Tom Cruise
2. Cheesy motivational 80's monster ballads during montage sequences
3. A villain with blonde hair and sunglasses (Ice-man and Russ Wheeler) who happens to be on the same team
4. Cheesy motorcycle ride with chick on the back
5. A tragedy to one of the main character's buddies
6. Tom Cruise hooks up with a chick he definitely shouldn't be hooking up with, a la the forbidden romance (instructor/doctor)
7. The mentor figure knowing everything about what the young guy should be doing, but the young guy is just too bad ass to listen, so the mentor ends up being impressed when the young guy kicks ass
8. The bad ass doing something to piss of the bosses (hot coffee fly by/pulling out the pit after the race to smash up the owner's cars)
9. Random nervous breakdown sequence (drag race with taxi/going AWAL before the ceremony)
10. The movie ending on a cheesy still frame and rolling to credits

If only we knew this formula years ago, we could've been thousandares.
